Maybury Material Handling is growing and looking for a Battery Maintenance Technician to test, charge and maintain industrial batteries used primarily for forklifts, sweeper/scrubbers, scissor lifts, utility vehicles and other material handling equipment. This includes batteries at our customer locations as well as Maybury owned shop batteries used for demos and rentals. Our ideal candidate is someone with knowledge of industrial batteries and battery maintenance experience and has the potential to grow into a lead technician role to help manage our entire battery maintenance program.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Runs scheduled load testing and other diagnostics on batteries in accordance with established procedures.
- Sets ups, runs and maintains the cycle charging process of all batteries in inventory.
- Performs routine cleaning and watering of all batteries in accordance with pre-determined schedule and as needed.
- Replaces battery cells and completes cable and inter cell connector replacements as needed.
- Properly records and maintains all required battery specifications, testing results, charging activity, location, etc. of new and used batteries in company database.
- Tracks and maintains the physical location of all batteries in inventory and keeps the battery maintenance area clean and orderly at all times.
- Monitors and assists with ordering of all supplies required for battery maintenance such as: acids, cells, tape, connectors, etc.
- Performs repairs and preventive maintenance to changer and changing system.
- Packages and disposes of used acids and batteries.
- Travels to customer locations to deliver, install and uninstall batteries as well as perform routine battery maintenance and repair. Drives Maybury company vehicle with 5th wheel trailer as needed.
- Uses tablet PC to maintain battery inventory, process work orders, timesheets, parts and service bulletin look-up and for email communication.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma, mechanical aptitude and least 1 year of related experience required. Knowledge of industrial batteries and battery maintenance experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Windows and intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) Experience with GP Dynamics a plus.
- Strong customer service, organizational and process management skills required.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving history is required. Ability to drive vehicle with 5th wheel trailer and hold a DOT medical card.
- Must be able to frequently lift or move up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift or move up to 100 lbs.
